As a community partner in the city’s Chicago Monuments Project, GCNA will present an educational webinar on the monuments whose futures are being discussed. GCNA is committed to both historic preservation and beautification in our neighborhood. Therefore, we will concentrate our focus on the six monuments located in Lincoln Park in a webinar program on Thursday, June 24, at 6:00 p.m. Our program, “The Stories Behind the Statues,” is informational but will include comments on the potential negatives of each of the subjects of our neighborhood’s monuments in light of current perspectives. The program moderator will be GCNA President Vern Broders. The two panelists will be Kim L. Dulaney, Director of Education and Programs at The DuSable Museum of African American History, and Rose Miron, Director of the D’Arcy McNickle Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies at the Newberry Library.
