The creator of the television soap opera was a Chicago native and lived at 1335 N. Astor until her death in 1973. Irna Phillips used her love of drama to create characters and shows that kept the day-time audience coming back after each cliff-hanger ending. The Guiding Light, As the World Turns, Another World, and Days of Our Lives were a few of the shows she wrote. Eventually her shows were produced in New York City, but Irna wanted to stay in Chicago where she stayed involved with her shows by telephone and enjoyed her life in Chicago's Gold Coast.
