GCN's Annual Meeting took place on Monday, October 20th, 2008. The meeting was open only to members of GCN. The event was held at Maxim's: The Nancy Goldberg International Center, located at 24 E. Goethe (lower level). A reception followed from 8:30pm to 9:30pm, with refreshments provided by O'Brien's Restaurant.
The meeting featured a full review of the association’s activities, as well as the Nominating Committee Chair presenting the slate of directors for the coming year.
Per our By-Laws, the Annual Meeting is to be held on a date after the close of our fiscal year (September 30) and completion of the audit, but not later than November 15th. As such, our meeting of the general membership is traditionally held on the third Monday of October.
Our Leadership Speakers included State Senator John Cullerton, State Rep. Sara Feigenholtz, as well as the 42nd and 43rd Ward Aldermen. We had three other guest speakers this year. Officer Ron Rufo with the Preventive Programs Section of the Chicago Police Department discussed "Crime Prevention in the Gold Coast. David M Thompson J.D. Director of Development & Strategic Initiatives from Chicago-Kent College of Law spoke about "Rethinking Waste: The Future of Recycling in Chicago." Tom Joyce of the BBB addressed the topic "Shred it and Forget it. Document Management/Shredding Options." |
