Over 100 Gold Coast Neighbors gathered for the Association's annual meeting on Monday, October 18th at 7:00pm at the Ambassador East Hotel. The Gold Coast Neighbors Association, previously the North State Astor Lake Shore Drive Association, met to recognize and affirm our name change, boundary change, addition of our website, and celebration of our 47 years in existince.
Other business included the report by Treasurer Jack Telander, presentation of our website development by Cindy Bromelmeier and committee event reports by Sally Novak and Tom Gariti. Alderman Vi Daley of the 43rd Ward, Alderman Burt Natarus, of the 42nd Ward and Reuben Hedlund of the Near North Preservation Coalition gave special presentations and encouraged lively discussion.
Neighbors expressed their desire to protect their unique area by presenting the Near North Preservation Coalition with a $10,000 contribution, given in addition to the past $100,000.
Nominating Chair Susan Matyus proposed new directors Ed Baran, Margaret Boyle, Bill Ketchum, Carl Madda, Jim Kinoshita, Pam Passis, John Stassen, Tom Thilman and Dianne Zaubi. Special Recognition Awards were presented to Cindy Bromelmeier, Tom Gariti, Susan Matyus and Sally Novak with the President's Award being presented to Bill Staples.
