Zoning Committee

• Review zoning requests and building permit applications for exterior changes that would affect the neighborhood.
• Our review would seek to identify the qualities of the project that are mandates of the Gold Coast Neighbors, among which are:
  1. Does the project promote or hinder public safety?
  2. Does the project add or detract from the architectural heritage of our neighborhood?
  3. Does the project increase or decrease the harmonious interaction of our neighbors?
  4. Does the project appear to enhance or detract from neighboring property values?
• Monitor City of Chicago zoning and planning meetings.
• Liaison with Near North Preservation Council.
• Monitor other types of development activity in the neighborhood, including changes in use of facilities, signage and fencing.
• Reviews proposed projects in the area for the Landmark Commission of Chicago review process.
